ServeTheHome has just published a full review of the Qotom Q51551UT, a mini PC with a genuinely absurd amount of networking: four 10GbE SFP+ ports and six 2.5GbE RJ45 ports, all driven by an Intel N-series processor.

If you've been eyeing up a dedicated pfSense, OPNsense, or VyOS box and keep hitting the ceiling of single-NIC mini PCs plus add-in cards, this is the kind of purpose-built kit that solves the problem outright. Ten network interfaces in a fanless (or near-silent) small form factor is hard to match without going full rackmount.

The Intel platform means broad driver support across FreeBSD and Linux — important if you're not running stock firmware. The 10GbE SFP+ ports are the real draw here; if you've already got a 10G switch or are building out inter-VLAN routing at line rate, dedicated SFP+ beats USB or PCIe adapters crammed into a NUC every time.

Caveats worth noting. Qotom is a Chinese OEM brand — support is minimal and you're largely on your own if something goes wrong. Pricing tends to fluctuate on AliExpress and Amazon, and you'll want to double-check RAM and storage configs before buying as many listings ship barebones. ServeTheHome's review flags real-world power draw and thermal behaviour, so read the full piece before committing.

For UK homelabbers already running 10G backbones (or planning to), this sits in an interesting spot between cheap 2.5GbE boxes and expensive enterprise gear. It won't suit everyone — if you only need a simple router, a two-port mini PC at half the price does the job.

If you're building or tidying a setup around a box like this, a 240W USB-C Fast-Charging & Data Cable – Braided, LED Indicator is handy for powering peripherals at the bench, and SFP+ DAC cables are essential if you're connecting to a 10G switch.

Worth a look if you've been waiting for affordable multi-10G in a small box — just go in with eyes open on the brand.
