The headline spec is 128GB of unified memory shared between the 16-core Zen 5 CPU and the integrated Radeon 8060S GPU (40 RDNA 3.5 CUs). That's the same memory pool, laptop-style — which makes this genuinely interesting for running large language models locally without shelling out for a discrete GPU with enough VRAM. Think 70B-parameter models that would normally demand a used enterprise GPU or multiple cards.
Beyond AI, the N5 Max is a credible homelab node: dual 2.5GbE NICs, up to two M.2 NVMe slots, and enough grunt for a Proxmox host running a stack of VMs and containers. The small footprint means it'll sit on a shelf rather than dominating a rack.
